Marcus Sedgwick, a writer of more than 40 books for children and adults, passed away at 54. His death was reported as “unexpected” by his literary agency RCW.
Sedgwick’s work was nominated for more than 30 awards, including four nominations for the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, two for the Edgar Allan Poe Award, and five for the Carnegie Medal.
He was also the most well-known author in Printz Award history, with one win and two honour books. For his first book, Floodland, he received the Branford Boase Award, and for My Swordhand Is Singing, he received the Booktrust Teenage Prize.
