Hi Roland Sato Page! We are pleased to have you on here for an interview. When did you become police officer?
What were your dreams, and goals once you were employed with the Police Department? 1989 began my journey in Law Enforcement. The advance in the department like many of my friends. Yet deep down I wasn’t satisfied with the career.
How long were you a police officer?
Approximately 8 years.
When did you begin writing your novel?
I wrote memoirs during my trial. However, until a year ago I had no desire to publish them into my novel.
When did you finish?
On my birthday Sept. 16th, 2020.
What was it like writing, and getting your book published? Was it hard to find a publisher?
Easier said than done. I’m still learning as I go. You will get out of it what you put into it.
Have you written anything before?
No this is my first journey. I already completed 3 books and Eating the Forbidden Fruit hasn’t been released yet.
Where there any obstacles in your way when you were writing?
I have insomnia so once I begin writing I can’t stop so it’s a curse and a blessing.
Tell me what your book is about?
Based on actual events in my life as a St. Louis police officer convicted of federal crimes due to my childhood affiliation. A tale of karma, confession, and redemption.
How did it come to be?
Really it was either spiral into an abyss of depression or find a way to manage my depression.
Who do you give credit to for helping you complete your novel, if anyone?
Wife and kids. They’re my motivation.
What did you do after your police officer career?
I started a tattoo business, Pearl Gallery, located in downtown St. Louis established for 26 years as of 2020. It’s now owned by my children.
What do you want people to take away from your novel?
Better understanding of the ups and downs in law enforcement. Also, we all fall from grace from time to time. It’s how you rebound which defines a person character.
Do you see yourself writing another book?
I already wrote 3 novels. Eating the Forbidden Fruit dropping March 30th, 2020, Skin Deep, and Walking the Purple Road. Not sue when the others will be release. I’m focused on the first having a proper release.
