Thomas Leeds, the author who lost his memory and had to learn to read again, has recently published his first children’s adventure book. Despite a life-altering car accident that caused him to lose his entire memory, Thomas did not give up on his love for reading and writing. At 20 years old, he struggled to make sense of the jumble of letters and words in a newspaper but did not let that defeat him.
Throughout his 20s, Thomas worked on his recovery and tried to rekindle his memory, but it was not until he heard a familiar song on the eve of his 30th birthday that his past finally emerged. This sparked a desire in him to write a series of books for 9 to 12-year-olds and, after much perseverance and hard work, he accomplished just that with the publication of “Jayben and The Golden Torch.”
Thomas found that reading and writing was a long journey, but he did not let that stop him. He started with picture books but eventually moved on to children’s chapter books and fell in love with fantasy and adventure stories set in alternate worlds. These stories offered him a relatable escape from the “mysterious, weird place” that the real world had become due to his memory problems.
This is a story of hope, determination, and the power of imagination. Thomas Leeds serves as an inspiration to all who face challenges in life and proves that anything is possible with hard work and perseverance
