Lewis Carroll is best known for his timeless classic Alice in Wonderland. Born in 1832 in Daresbury, England, Carroll was an English author, poet and mathematician. He was a gifted mathematician and became a lecturer in the same subject.
Lewis Carroll is the pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. The classic Alice in Wonderland was published in 1865 and has become a beloved children’s tale since then. The story is about a young girl Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantastical world.
The author initially narrated the story to three girls on a riverboat trip in Oxford in 1862. They were the daughters of his friend, Henry Liddell. The girls enjoyed the story so much that they requested the author to write it down.
As Carroll started writing Alice’s adventures on paper, he made a great story, unusual characters and lots of twists and turns to the plot. Dodgson gave the manuscript to Alice Liddell once he finished the novel.
